  • Maintain strong knowledge of systems furniture and furniture product applications
  • Ability to effectively communicate intent, plans, status, issues, alternatives, solutions, and to resolve conflicts
  • Work with in-house sales/design team and various A&D firms on furniture selections and layouts, while maintaining consistency with client furniture standards
  • Create specifications and design service quotes as well as prepare presentation package
  • Review furniture layouts and specifications to ensure accuracy, consistency with standards and space functionality. Identify issues and resolve
  • Collaborate with Architect or Interior Designer to meet functional, aesthetic and budgetary requirements
  • Conduct interior space planning for commercial environments; including but not limited to specification of office furniture, finishes, and related products
  • Consult with general contractors, architects and other consultants, as needed
  • Field verify space dimensions, conditions and when applicable, existing furniture inventory
  • Attend product training classes offered and other courses appropriate to position
  • Readily share knowledge with designers and other roles on an on-going basis
  • Develop and maintain best practices and design standards
  • Work with director on workload distribution across design team
  • Create training material for designers and other functions with an emphasis on the design role

  • 5+ years experience in a related field
  • Office furniture experience required. Knowledge of Steelcase systems strongly preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective performance when faced with time pressures, competing priorities and deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships with internal and external clients


  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field
  • Proficient in AutoCAD required
  • Knowledge of local building codes, ADA compliances and ergonomics required
  • Managing resources, schedules and budgets, conducting presentations and project meetings to clients
  • Excellent communication, organization and PC skills
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve effectively and creatively
  • Excellent leadership and team facilitation skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented, highly motivated and ambitious


  • NCIDQ registration preferred
  • LEEDS CI preferred
  • Knowledge of CAP or other furniture specification software preferred
  • Knowledge of rendering software preferred
  • Knowledge of local building codes, ADA compliance and ergonomics
  • Presentation and facilitation skills preferred
